Which videocard is better: ATI Radeon HD 5770 or ATI Radeon HD 6250?
I suspect the 6250, but not sure...
My friend has bought a €300 laptop, I bought my videocard as a lose part...
I have a 5770. My friend has obviously the 6250.
Which is better?

Offhand, without verifying, I'd say that the 5770 has more raw power but the 6250 might have more features.

Why would you suggest an inferior card?

This. Nvidia cards are more expensive, more "power-eating" and generally less... well, good. I just bought a HD 6570 for some 50 euros (I also considered GT 530, I think), and it totally kicks ass for that price. Low consumption (I only have a 350W ATX) and very good performance. Some time ago I too was a huge fan of nvidia, but now I know much more about computers

Heck, the only reason I currently use an nvidia card is because I got it as a gift.
I'll probably be building a new comp towards the end of the year, a high-end one, and it'll probably feature crossfire.

Performance wise, GTX 560 is well above a HD 5770 and there is no comparison between a GTX 580 and a HD 5770.

True. But if you want to give credit to ATI, the 5970 can be recommended on top of those 2.
And I believe that nvidia and ATI both have capable products. In the end, it's a mix of performance AND budget. Which company meets that mix better, is a winner.

That's the same as saying "Fuck Mercedes, get a BMW". It all comes down to personal taste or how much mone you have.

So, since AMD aquired ATI does anyone think that ATI cards might perform better on a AMD rig?
I mean not just graphically, but in certain, peculiar weird techical, magical ways (like since they own it)? Sabatoge, is maybe the word.
What I mean is that I've got AMD system with an Nvidia card and sometimes I get a blue screen, yet with my Intel with Nvidia I've never had that happen.

Of course, it was already like that in the past, but since AMD aquired ATI their GPUs and CPUs are developed in parallel, so as a rule of thumb it makes no sense to pair Nvidia graphics with AMD processors.

(dont laugh at me) but is the ATI 5450 equal/comp to the Nvidia 9500,
both 512 mb? As I'm poor as the proverbial churchmouse, I have to game by hook or by crook
