Hi there! I have EXTREME LAG problems in Gothic 2 NotR.
So, when I put the Range of View on 300% huge lag occurs in the Harbour of Khorinis,and near the Monastery. Can somebody just explain that,or give a solution.Thank you.
Important INFO:
1.) I dont use mods.
2.) I am not gonna post my dxdiag.
3.) My Pc Spec:
Intel 2.53 Ghz
Radeon X800 256 Mb
1024 Mb Ram
.
Ps: I am satisfied with my pc, I play Two Worlds 1 on max with 0% lag ! And I even have QuarlsTexturePack3.0 on Oblivion,again with 0% Lag !
So I dont understand what is with Gothic 2 that I have so much lag.

Hello. You can try reducing the range of view while you`re down the harbour and then increase it later using "F1" ,"F2" or "F3". This problem is from the game itself

i also have lag in gothic 2 notr especially in the harbor (facing lares from Martin position) 20 FPS or lower or i have mass FPS jumps and stuttering near teleporters.

Exactly,why is it that happens? Is it because Gothic 2 doesnt have low/high poly lod,everything(the whole island is there at once..or somehow...But all the recommendations say 512 mb ram.I mean,I realize I have a low-end machine for todays standards,but it is still way abowe what is written as the G2 recommendations!I would like this thread to continue ;and not be closed. If the Forum Masters don't have anything against that.

You have this problem, I have this problem, nearly everyone playing the game has this problem. There are some solutions but they don't work for me. Here is the thread with some possible solutions you can attempt. Don't expect them to work though, Gothic 2 isn't the best optimized game out there.

My solution is to simply leave the settings as they are. That's how I played the game back then and it just seems normal to me.

Please remember that this is a help forum and we're not in a peanuts thread, so if you have no helping suggestions to solve the "g2 lag problem", well then simply do not post.

There is no solution per se, other than getting yourself a PC that overpowers the intrinsically bad performance of Gothic II, but try to disable Radial Fog (and possibly other features) in the extended configuration menu and the game should play better.

I've first played Gothic II on a PC similar to yours and my performance was right there with yours. That's just how it goes with the Gothics.

As mentioned, you have to increase the cache values in the INI - if you've got enough RAM to spare. It's good that at least we get this option in G1/G2. Many games of that time don't.
