    Risen 2 - Mod Starter v2.0 (Online DB version)

    Hello all . Risen 2 - Mod Starter (R2MDS) is ready. You can notice that interface almost the same as in R1 MDS, thats because I am just "adjusted" latest R1 MDS version to Risen 2. So, all known bugs already fixed and here is same Online Mods DB for Risen 2. Description of R2MDS features, credits and legal stuff you can find in Readme (DE, EN) file. Also you probably must to know that Online DB for R1 & R2 hosted on the same web/mysql servers and it is not needed to register again (in Online DB) via R2 MDS to add your new mod. If you already have an account, then you can just log-in.

    Note: As you know, registration in Online DB required only for adding your new mods into it. If you want only to download some mods from it, then it is not needed to register here. Also I want to "send" additional thanks to NicoDE (for rmds.nicode.net domain), Baltram (bug reports, testing) and to all RMDS translators .

    [Anleitung für Mod-Ersteller]:
    Eigene Mods der lokalen Offline-Liste hinzufügen
    ------------------------------------

    3. Optional: Eine "readme.txt" (oder "readme.rtf") mit einer kurzen Beschreibung der Mod (wird in Online und Offline Datenbank angezeigt).

    4. Optional: Wenn die Mod irgendwelche Texte im Spiel verändern oder ergänzen soll, dann können Sie Dateien der Form "*Mod.csv" anlegen, wobei der Stern ("*") für den Namen der Originaldatei steht, die verändert werden soll. Es wird empfohlen, die originale Tab in eine CSV-Datei zu konvertieren, alle nicht veränderten Zeilen zu löschen und nur Änderungen und eigene Ergänzungen einzutragen.

    5. Optional: "ModName.ini", mit folgendem Inhalt:

    	[Name]
    	Caption=Name der Mod

       Hinweis: Der obige Wert wird als Name für die Mod in der Datenbank verwendet. Fehlt er, wird der Name des Verzeichnisses als Name benutzt.

    6. Optional: Dateien der Form "*.chx" mit Informationen über neue Cheats welche in der Mod verwendet werden. Die Angaben werden der Cheat-Liste im Cheats-Feld hinzugefügt.

       Struktur der Datei:

    	[Cheat]
    	Name=testcheat
    	Description=BeschreibungDesTestCheats

    7. Optional: Dateien der Form "*.hotkey" mit Informationen über neue/vorhandene Tastenkürzel, welche in der Mod verwendet werden. Die Angaben werden der Hotkey-Liste im Cheats-Feld hinzugefügt.

       Struktur der Datei:

    	[HotKey]
    	Name=SomeHotkey+S
    	Description=Irgendwas mit Ctrl+S

    [Anleitung für Mod-Ersteller]:
    Mods der Online-Datenbank hinzufügen
    ------------------------------------

    1. Die Mod zuerst der lokalen Offline-Datenbank hinzufügen (siehe oben).

    2. MDS starten, am MDS Online DB Konto anmelden und dann den Reiter "Neue Mod hinzufügen" öffnen.

    3. Die Mod auswählen und "Dateien erstellen" auswählen. Sofern die Mod noch nicht von einem anderen Benutzer hochgeladen wurde, wird MDS zwei ZIP-Dateien erstellen, die Sie irgendwo ins Internet stellen müssen (z.B. hier: http://upload.worldofplayers.de/). Dann müssen die Links dorthin in die entsprechenden Felder kopiert werden.

    4. Auf den "Mod hinzufügen" Knopf klicken. MDS wird die Mod nur annehmen, wenn die angegebenen Links funktionieren. Dann wird die Mod mit dem gewählten Namen in die Datenbank eingetragen. Wenn Sie Moderator sind, wird die Mod automatisch aktiviert, ansonsten müssen Sie warten, bis ein Moderator die Mod freigibt. Temporäre ZIP-Dateien werden gelöscht.

    Some technical info:

    Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)

    • Building local/offline mod-list. R2MDS search for mods in "FanMods" folder. If "common\*.p0x" or "compiled\*.p0x" exists, then mod will be added into mods array (here also stored readme.rtf modification time or mod folder modification time if readme.rtf not exists). Then program will make "array sort" by modification time. So, in result we will have mod-list where last modified mod (new mod) will be at the top of the list.

    • *.dat files inside R2MDS folder. After installing/integration some mods, MDS will create three new files:

      • flm.dat - this file contain installed mod names.
      • fdm.dat - this file contain path to all installed mod files.
      • fsm.dat - this file contain size in bytes of all files from fdm.dat.

    • MDS files inside "...\AppData\Risen2". R2MDS will create an folder with name - "MDS" inside Risen2 Appdata. Here will be stored copies of flm.dat, fdm.dat, fsm.dat and savegames from different combinations of the mods (if this option will be enabled in SaveGame Manager). *.dat files stored additionally in AppData folder to avoid situations when user will remove R2MDS folder manually and then reinstall it. Then MDS will use files from AppData and will know which mods already installed.

    • Working with Risen2\data\mountlist_packed.ini. R2MDS will read AppData and SaveGame path from mountlist_packed.ini. It will automatically replace mnt variables with real path for internal use. Supported variables:

      • $(savedgames)
      • $(mydocuments)
      • $(localappdata)
      • $(appdata)
      • $(system)
      • $(user)

      If variables will be not found, then MDS will try to check if it is relative to "...\Risen2\" folder.

      Note: After launching SaveGame manager window, you will see current/default SaveGame path.

    [Instruction for Mod-Makers]: Adding new mod in local/offline R2MDS mod-list:

    Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)

    You can add your own (new) mods to the R2MDS offline mod-list by creating new folder here - "...R2MDS\FanMods\".
    This new folder should contain some required or optional files for Risen 2 ModStarter:

    1. It is required to add at least one "\compiled\*.p0x" or "\common\*.p0x" file (in subfolder - compiled or common). If program will not found this files, then folder will be skipped. P0x files will be copied to the Risen2\Data\*\ folder (where * - compiled or common) with incremental "x" number.

    2. You can add one "*.jpg" file (size - 330х327 or 315х312). In case if you will add image with other resolution, it will be resized to default size. If image will be not found, mds will use default one.

    3. You can add "readme.txt" (or "readme.rtf") file - short description of mod (it will de displayed in Online DB & in offline mod-list for each mod).

    4. If you want to edit or add some ingame texts (inside/into tab files), you can add "*Mod.csv" files (Where * - name of original csv or tab file, which you want to change). It is recomended to extract original tab file into csv, then delete all not needed strings, then add or change needed text. After that you can save it to "ModFolder\*Mod.csv" file.

    5. You can add "ModName.ini" file, with next lines :

      Code:
      [Name]
      Caption=name of the mod
      Note: if you will add there name of your mod, then R2MDS will add your mod to the mod-list with this name. Otherwise program will use folder name as name of your mod.

    6. You can add few "*.chx" files. Here you can add some info about new cheats which can be used with your mod. It will be added into cheat-list on Cheats Pannel.

      Structure of cheat-file (*.chx):

      Code:
      [Cheat]
      Name=testcheat
      Description=DescriptionOfTestCheat...
    7. You can add few "*.hotkey" files. Here you can add some info about new/existing hotkeys which can be used with your mod. It will be added into hotkeys-list on Cheats Pannel.

      Structure of hotkey-file (*.hotkey):

      Code:
      [HotKey]
      Name=SomeHotkey+S
      Description=some with ctrl+s...

    That's all. If you will do all right, then after launching MDS, you will find your mod in the MDS mod-list.

    [Instruction for Mod-Makers]: Adding new mod into Risen 2 Online MoDs DB:

    Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)

    1. You must add new mod into your local/offline MDS mod-list as written in instruction above.
    2. Launch MDS, login into your MDS Online DB account and then open - "Add New Mod" tab.
    3. Select your mod and click - "Make files". If this mod was not added by other user recently, MDS will make 2 zip files, which you must upload somewhere and then paste direct links in needed fields :

      Note : You can upload your mods here:

It is most stable place for mod files. Note: After uploading files to wop, you must post your links somewhere in this or other thread on the wop forum (to prevent file deletion after some time)...

      • If "full" mod file is bigger than 10 Mb:

        • http://www.dropbox.com/ - Free plan will give to you 2 GB space on hosting. You must create account for using it. It is possible to upload files with size not bigger than 300 Mb via web-browser. But there is no limit if you will upload files into public folder via dropbox desktop application. Note: For generating public link, you must upload files into public folder!

        • http://www.fileden.com/ - Free plan will give to you 1 GB space on hosting. You must create account for using it. Limits - 5 Gb bandwidth per month.
    4. Click on - "Add mod" button. MDS will allow you to add new mod only if links will work. Then mod with current name will be added into DB. If you are moderator - mod will be auto-confirmed, otherwise you must wait some time, until your mod will be activated by moderator. Temporary zip files will be deleted.

    ___

    That's all. After mod will be successfully added into DB, you can edit/delete it in any time from "Manage My Mods" tab.

    R2MDS online features (same as in R1 MDS):

    Spoiler:(zum lesen bitte Text markieren)

    • MDS already have online checker for new version. On first MDS launch, it will ask for checking for updates on every program startup. But you can change this option in any time if you change your mind from "Menu-Options-Updates" :

      If new version will be avaliable, MDS will promt to launch MDS updater to apply new changes, if you will say yes, then MDS updater (it is separate program for MDS) will be launched :

    • Online Mods DB. Here you can download or add your own mods. After addition of new mod, it will be shown in overall list of mods only after MDS moderator will confirm it.

      On main form you can see new menu button - "Internet Mods DB" :

      After clicking this button, it will take 1-4 seconds (depends on your inet connection) to connect to online DB. If DB will not be on maintenance, then you will see another window with all mods in DB :

      They are sorted by addition date (last added mod, will be on the top of list). There you can mark only mods which are not already on your mod-list and then click "Download" button. All mods are downloaded and integrated separate from each other - one by one, so if you will click - "Abort Download" in middle of the process, that will mean that all previously integrated mods will not be deleted... After download will be finished, you must restart MDS to make possible to use new mods.

      Also after you will click on some mod from the list, MDS will download preview info for 1-2 secs and will display it in appropriate fields.

      In this same window, you can see option - "Delete temporary files on exit". If this option enabled - that means that preview info what was downloaded during navigating between mods in online mod-list, will be deleted after closing this window. Or if this option will be disabled, that means that already downloaded preview info of mods will not be deleted and it will not be redownloaded every time after clicking on needed mod when restart MDS. (Must to say, that if author will update his mod in online DB, MDS will ignore this option and will redownload once this info for this mod).

      Ok, here you can only download already added mods by their authors, but if you want to download or update/edit your mod, you can click on "Add/Edit my own mod" button on this same window. After what, MDS will check for banned ip's and then it will give right to you to enter your login and password there. If you don't have account in MDS, then just enter your account name and password in needed fields, and account will be created with this info if this name doesn't taken recently :

      After successful login, you will see new window, where you can add new mods, edit your mods (or edit all mods if you are moderator) and manage your account (change password and e.t.c.).

      If you already have some added mods, then, you can manage your mod (edit links, mod-name, delete mod or if you moderator - activate/deactivate mods and resetting mod to other user) on "Manage Uploaded Mods" tab:

      Moderators also have other options - to show only not activated mods, and activating/deactivating all mods from the active list (by right mouse click on mod list)...

      And the last tab - "My Profile" will allow to you to change your password, your contact info and check list of moderators (if you - moderator, you also can check list of all users) :

    Awesome, thanks!

    Do I have to start Risen 2 from the Mod Starter or is it possible to still use Steam like I am used to?
    What will happen when Patches are provided through Steam?
    Alles wird gut.

    After intallation/integration some mods, you can launch game directly from steam (MDS is needed only to install/delete mods). In case if new patch will rewrite some file(s), then MDS automatically (on next relaunch) will delete installed mods correctly and you will be able to install them again on already patched version of the game .
