If Risen 2 deserved to be bought....

....then I would buy it.
But it doesn't deserve to be bought. Aside from the anti-evolution game design decisions, Deep Silver have released a game that isn't in full working order which is not the first time that a PB game has been released as an utter mess. Even after the latest patch, it seems that the game still runs like a bad acid trip. Deep Silver's financial problems or Pirhana Bytes organisational problems are not my problems.....I will keep my money.......(and I wont be playing Risen 2 neither so where is the copyright violation?)

It is my task here to make sure that the ToS are not violated. Because you agreed to follow them when you signed up. If you think you cannot follow them anymore, you are free to leave. What you do in your own four walls, that's between you and your local law enforcement. But here in the WoP, the admins decided that they do not want that kind of posts. So if you can't keep it to yourself, I suggest you try a confessional box or something like that.

dude.... i'm ok with the rules and stuff but hear me, in your personal opinion, isnt it burying your head to make a rule about not posting anything related to pirated softwares ? you didnt make the rule but i mean in general. i would find it amusingly truthful and try to find the reasons behind it. giving warnings is weird thats all.

Firstly, it is alright to discuss piracy on an abstract level or on a hypothetical basis. We do so frequently in the DRM thread. But actually admitting to piracy is something else. That is actually breaking the law and a form of endorsement ("I did it so it's ok!"). And that can get the admins is trouble they don't want because it might result in mail from a lawyer. Besides, we also work more or less closely together with the different developers and publishers. We get interviews and prizes for contests and exclusive material and they sometimes come by and write something here in our forum. They would cease to work with us if they thought we were a software piracy den. We think that the users benefit more from the continued cooperation with developers and publishers than from freely discussing cracks and personal piracy. You might think differently but it is what we believe.
Secondly, this is a private party of the admins. And the rule is "no dope". You may question the sense behind the legal ban on dope. And you may question the (alleged?) negative effects on dope on your health. But it does not matter. They don't want it here. Call it burying your head if you like but it is their house and their party. Break the rules and you get kicked out.

Ahem.... I have Nvidia cards. Had the flickering all over treetops everywhere. Now it's gone. Environment looks fine,so I guess the patch did work for me. Didn't pay attention about cut-scenes though.
Still the ANTIWARP mod, RISEN2 Tune Utility(fix camera to mouse!) and LOD distance mod are absolutely a must!
Combat makes more sense now,but for me is a huge step back from what was achieved in Risen. Desperately tried to use parry and riposte (human enemies of course) ,but it's hardly possible to get a chance of slipping a hit through the endless barrages of swings from opponent. Not that is difficult(we Gothic fans love that) - much worse - it's just not fun! In Risen I didn't have to hesitate, learned all combat sort of ...naturaly. Here -I gave up early -on Tacarigua, reloaded and invested my gold in powerfull swings with slashing weapon - no ripostes,no parry,no duelling at all
. I think combat resembles Gothic 1&2 a lot now,but don't understand why it was made so. I wish in Risen 2, opponents were moving around a little bit more, instead of doing endless ( well - 30 seconds, all right) chains of hits, while I'm waiting (kinda bored with RMB pressed) for them to end.Once managed to slurp some juice from a straw while "fighting",lol.
I still bought the game anyway!
Piracy just kills the PC gaming, shifting developers to console market, increasing the financial risk for making a (very expencive nowadays) really challenging game, resulting in shitty-easy-to-play-all-the-same-burger-tasting-endless-sequels for 10 year olds. No one can convince me otherwise. What all those SOPAs and ACTAs are really made for is entirely different matter. When someone has worked hard to create something you use,he has to be rewarded accordingly for his labor. Simple maths.

World of Players
the new patch released! changes the combat finally!!
