As you may be aware, Kai left PB in order to build his own company, Nevigo. They worked for a lot of time on a story building tool, Articy, which can be used in developing RPGs. To be honest, I don't know a lot about it, yet it is out now, for a 30 days free trial. Let's give it a try and see how it works.

Sure, go ahead. I've got approximately zero experience in these matters.

I did not mean zero experience with the software but with story design in general.

These guys should work together with piranhas ... together would be easier for them to build a masterpiece as it was the Gothic 2.

Sounds very intresting but...i'm having a bit of uncertain how this could generated them enough money to actually survive...I mean, this seems to be mostly for games, and not just any games, but story driver games, mostly rpgs. There are only that many rpgs out there, and only that many are intresting in such tools i'd say.
Well, lets hope i'm wrong, its certainly intresting tool.

Well, if each game has at least 4 people working on the story, a single game would bring 4150 euro. That is the paycheck for almost 3 people for a month. The team has around 17 people. That means they need 6 small games/month. That means 72 games/year. If you cut taxes that number should grow. Skyrim had around 8 people working on the story afaik.
However, they would need additional licenses for producers, programmers, level designers and so on. And now all depends on whether the license is for a year or you buy the program for good. For the most recent Elex news, the new Piranha Bytes RPG, visit us at World of Elex!!!

But i doubt even PB has 4 people working on the story full time or enough to need the app, let alone some other studios.

I am not sure about this yet, but if the program has an option to export the charts directly as script into the engine, a lot of money would be saved by having less programmers.

At the very best, the programme would require a plugin to export the charts to scripts.

articy:draft ain't a name I like. Nevigo is.
I think (hope) they already had clients before starting their company.
I wonder who would use that? It seems it might benefit non story people, so they know a little more about what they are doing.
Maybe they used a similar tool at PB, and this one is an upgrade.
Fun to look at, but really helpful?

How they plan on making money is a question. I guess they want to make money by ???
I think they want to make money by ???
I think they want to make money by making game design really common place. Maybe they will make money with the following model. A real game company makes a game using Articy, and because you can buy Articy, the fans of the game can make mods really easy. It would be a great money maker if a major MMPORPG used this, then all the MMPORPG addicts would buy the 500 dollar tool to make easy mods! Maybe that is their plan.

I asked to try the beta, but it closed Feb 1. It was Feb 1, but maybe not in Germany.

If Articy has the ability to export your projects as scripts, then they could make a lot of money by licensing it to companies which release it integrated in their mod kits.

They could make money with (serious) modders planning on making really big mods, but it would have to be less expensive for them.
