Faby, since you seem to be the Elder Scrolls games modding specialist around here. I wanted to ask you a question. What are the most essential Oblivion mods?
OOO, 'nuff said.
-
OOO is very intrusive. You'll want to try the game without it. You can use Francesco's, though.
Also, read through this: http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/101...-of-mod-lists/ .
-
In what way exactly? I've tried doing Oblivion runs with OOO alone and it seemed pretty tame yet comprehensive.
-
It changes WAY too many in-game mechanics.
-
I agree with Faby, before using OOO you should see how crappy the game really is, just for the sake of having that experience.
-
well i really didnt see that one coming
-
Well yeah, in that way it really is intrusive, but that's probably cause most of the vanilla stuff was bad anyway. I agree, some bits shouldn't have been touched, like the weird levitation spell (could be the Supreme Magicka mod though), but overall I think it's the one mod that deals the most impact.
Regardless, Shivering Isles is the most bad ass thing ever.
-
I'm mostly bothered by the "you aren't that good at lockpicking" messages showing up instead of the lockpicking menu. I mean hey, I love a challenge, but outright denying me access to all the good loot in the game just because I don't have a big enough number in Security?

If Oblivion was a good game i wouldn't be looking for mods at the moment.
-
I use mods to augment the game, not improve it. I don't really play quest mods or any of that, I just add mods that introduce new armours and weapons and spells to the game.
-
Am I the only one who enjoyed the Vanilla version of Oblivion? I mean,I sure was frustrated when I hit the maximum level and couldn't the difficulty bar at maximum, because monsters took 100 hits to kill, but I other than that,I loved the quests and the exploration,to a certain extent
-
Some things in life just have to be accepted for what they are. You know, the whole "haters gon hate" business?
-
I'm curious,have you played Dagerfall?
-
-
I'm going to try the old Elder Scroll games on my old machine,I've heard Daggerfall rocks
How's Divinity ? Are you playing the Dragon Knight Saga version?

Yup. I'm still faffing about. The guys outside Maxos's tower have a nasty habit of serving me my own ass on a golden platter, so I need to do a bit of levelling before I try to blast my way through them.
But it's annoying... My fireball spell takes like 20 seconds to charge.

Daggerfall is very good if rather big and by that i mean the game world is huge. Imagine playing Morrowind and Skyrim together.
-
;o That sounds pretty awesome
-
I've also heard from many sources that due to the random generator used to create the map (and NPC's?) it's kind of tedious. And, apparently, balanced like a one-legged drunk on a ship during a heavy storm. Haven't tried it yet, but since it should be freeware now, I guess there's no reason not to!

Nah, I preferred the orignal Oblivion too. But then again I didn't play it with mods and stuff. Never really liked mods and addons to begin with: what's the point of releasing a game when it will need further development after it's sold? The whole concept behind it is bad, I figure. Take gothic 3 for example.
