Mount and Blade doesn't have over-the-shoulder view. WTF are you saying?!? Over-the-shoulder is something you see in games like Resident Evil and the sorts.

Don't have a cow, dude....I think the half-view in Mount & Blade is sucky!

Yeah, but a Skyrim'y horse view would be suckier. Imo M&B is fine just the way it is.

I didn't get very far with M&B, so is there an option to unlock the camera?

I've recently been replaying Half-Life 2, and I've come to the conclusion that it's essentially the Gothic series of First-Person Shooters.
Think about it, it's got well-defined characters, a world that FEELS hand-made, surprises and secrets (I've always thought of the Gothic series as being chock-full of miniature easter eggs), and it was really ahead of its time. Both games are unique for their genre, and really the main difference between the two is that Half-Life 2 isn't underrated and little known.

Half-Life 2 is a great game and it was a classic from the moment it came out, but drawing comparisons between Gothic and FPS games I'd sooner mention, say, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Deus Ex. Even Dark Messiah would stretch the comparison less than Half-Life 2 does.

Half-Life and Gothic, never, ever would've thought of them together in any capacity. Well, I'll play H-L 2 if someone would tell me how to run
it without Steam, which ain't getting anywhere near my pc.
Anyone know of any cracks or programs for that?
As for Mount & Blade, uh fergit about it...

Anyone who does better remember that mum's the word about such things. And you keep that in mind as well next time you ask about it... we don't kindly to cracks and suchlike here.

Ok, sorry, but in my heart I still think this game deserves it!

Why, you got unforgiving combat like in the early stages of the Gothics, similar portrayal of spells when it comes to their powers and limitations, complete but very simple RPG character development. Lots of "secret" stuff. The plot has some sparse elements which are similar, as well. You got your legendary item of plot advancement, you got your evil militarized forces of chaotic destruction, you got your supposedly normal protagonist, who is the apprentice of a powerful wizard who knows it all but says only what's necessary. A stretch it is but not completely insane.

linear levels
far less items
no sidquests
no free exploration
scarcity of dialogue
..in this action rpg there is so much action that there is almost no place for the rpg

I agree, but the comparison was only made to make a point about Half-Life 2 (that it is so far off it makes Dark Messiah sounds reasonable).

i did acknowledge that...
it was just a random remark on how off dark messiah was, since i've seen it compared to gothic before somewhere

I like that gruesome MMO Age of Conan. Has a fantastic 3rd person view, awesome melee combat, huge world to explore, lots of blood, beautiful music, delicious DX10 graphics. Worth checking out and it is free to play, only thing is it takes a massive download to get it installed...
