[G2] [Release] Velaya - Tale of a Warrior (English Version)

Thanks to a lot of hard working translators, proof readers and the dubber of the intro the English Translation for Velaya - Tale of a Warrior is finally ready!
Never heard of this extensive modification for Gothic 2 Night of the Raven? Check out the English Homepage for a brief description of the features and read the following introduction to the story:

The Story
Velaya - Tale of a Warrior is a German modification that tells the story of a young woman (known from Gothic 1

), who makes her way around Khorinis, shortly after the nameless hero and his companions left the island. A lot has changed in the meantime and the land is still in need of a hero. Or heroine?

But this is not Velaya's problem at the moment. Right now she is busy rejecting Dar, probably the most unpleasant mercenary on Onar's farm. Their dispute ends after a brief fight... on the planks of the tavern. Dar has to pay a penalty to Torlof, for beating up a helpless woman, but this is not enough for Velaya. She wants to get back at the weedhead her way. And soon she won't be as helpless as everyone thinks she is...

Beating up Dar will only be the first step. There is a lot more chauvinism to face. For the men of Khorinis it's not always easy to get used to a female adventurer. But they will soon learn to respect the ambitious woman and value her deeds.

How do I install the English version of Velaya?

You need Gothic 2 - Night of the Raven
You need the so-called Report Version of Gothic 2. But note: Due to incompatible naming conventions you will probably have no sound and no subtitles in your original Gothic 2 after installing this patch. To fix this problem do the following:
- Go to <Your Gothic directory>/_work/data/scripts/content/cutscene
- Rename the file Ou.dat to Ou.bin
- Rename the file Ou.lsc to Ou.csl
You have to install the English version of Velaya, or alternatively install the English patch upon an already existing German installation.
You can install the German voice output if you like to.

Yes, congratulations are in order for what I think may be the best fan made mod ever, for any game. I have enjoyed this as much as the original PB game.

If you install the english patch and start one of the english versions (choose the right entry in the GothicStarter), yes, then you should hear Korianous. Doesn't it work?

I just started to install G2 Gold,but i wanted to make sure that everything will be instalated perfect from the first try.

Well, if you just installed Gothic 2, then you probably don't have the German version of Velaya installed.
So the patch is not what you need, you need the full version instead.

Apart from the intro there was no English voice recording done.

Where should we ask questions about the mod or is there a FAQ sheet in English?

Basically, I was wondering about length, is there a quest list, do we have to be careful as with the original, we can only become a Mage before chapter 2, is there a limit on going to Jharkendar? I wish I could speak German, I bet I could find more infos.

Honestly the English Translation release was the first I have heard of this great looking mod. I can't tell you how often I make jokes about PB (one of the best RPG makers of our time) forcing me to always play as a male and being forced to see a male butt for 100s of hours (all PB games played multiple times) sucks.

So I very much support your work, thanks for your hard work and any tips on where I can find more info. If there is no English infos yet, that's fine, maybe then a German page, I could try Googlefu on?

No this is not planned so far and I will not lead such a project. Unless someone else does it, there will not be an English voice output.

just finished this interesting, funny and very very well done mod. it took me about 32 hours (only left one quest - stuff from the chest - actually,a part of this quest with weed parcel). character got 28th level. one more time - huraaah!!! for mod creators and people, who made it to english
