Risen: A Fan-Made Text-Based Game

A Fan-Made Text-Based Game
Hi there everyone,
A little while ago I decided to try and make a 1970s style text-based game, in order to test and improve my programming skills. I decided to place the story in the world of Risen.
The game takes around 5–10 min. to beat (I didn't want to make it last too long — it's text-based after all). This game starts off exactly as the real Risen does; you are stranded on an isle, you meet Sara, etc. Your goal will be to get accepted by one of the two factions: the rebels or the Inquisition, after which, the game ends. If you want to find out what happens next you will have to buy PB's game.
Download English (133 KB)
Other languages: Deutsch · Français · Română · Русский
I tried to imitate the actual game-world in the real Risen as much as I could, so if you've read the interviews and watched the RPC 09 videos, some of the locations might 'read' vaguely familiar. You're also going to be fighting a couple of stingrats.
That's it. Hope you enjoy it. Also, here's some screenshots:

PMC's Text-Based Game Maker
Make Your Own Game
The program I wrote for this game can also be used to create entirely new text-based games. To create a new game you will only need a simple text-editor such as Notepad; you don't need to reprogram anything. I ingeniously called the program PMC's Text-Based Game Maker. The download link can be found below.
Download Game Maker v1.1Win (454 KB)
Package contents: - Game launcher — the executable file which you will use to launch your game;
- Manual — a PDF document which explains how to make a game;
- Source code — the source code of the game launcher (compiled under Windows XP with GNU GCC and written in Code::Blocks 8.02);
- Risen: A Fan-Made Text-Based Game — the English copy of the game, which you can use as an example of how to make your game.

Holy cow - this is great! And it is even an open platform (I took a look at the scripts), so people can help you in expanding the game. I'm VERY impressed

Thank you very much!
BTW, I forgot to mention: I released the game in the public domain, so you can do anything you want with it, without asking for my permission.
I will also try to release the source code sometime soon. It will also be under a free license, but not public domain.

I will definitely play this after having played the real game. I'm too afraid that you've integrated spoilers into your fan-game.
But great work, positive responses. I look forward to trying it out.

Really cool! Thanks, man!
SKEPTICISM IS A VIRTUE!
The Riddle
Nameless Hero decides to run to the forge to destroy artifacts of Adanos. Innos and Beliar watch him, and decide to do the following:
Innos: I can't allow him to do it! I'll paralyze him when he gets half-way.
Beliar: I can't let my brother beat me to it! I'll paralyze this bastard when he gets a quarter of the way!
Innos: No, brother, I'll punish him myself! One-eights of the way!
and so on ad infinitum. There is nothing to stop them from doing what they plan.
Questions: Who actually gets to paralyze Nameless Hero - Innos or Beliar?
Can Nameless Hero even start to move? If he can, how is this - it seems impossible without breaking the will of at least one of gods? If not - why not - it seems that unless he makes some progress, gods won't paralyze him and he is free to move?

Very cute.
To program is one thing but to be able to provide an atmosphere and to pastiche oldies is much more difficult ... and you did it! Well done.

This is awesome, reminds me on old text adventures from the late eighties. Weird but good feeling to play stuff like this today.
