GIII freezes in Faring if winning in the arena in the castle
This is bugging our entire family: if I fight ork Torok in the castle arena and beat him, the blue text appears regarding the XP and reputation, then the game freezes. The music is playing and the application can be terminated thru the task manager, so this is not something with my system. I can with the arena fights with no problems throughout the universe, but not in the Faring castle. This is not a savegame problem either, as I tried to replay from an older save.
Another issue I am facing is texture corruption if anti-aliasing is turned on in the drivers in any shape and form. I am using Nvidia 6800XT card with the latest driver as of this writing. The corruption appears as blackened out terrain and buildings past certain distance from the player. The black areas are semi-transparent, i.e. I can see more distant rivers and waterfalls thru the black. Turning anti-aliasing off fixes the problem. Edges of water are corrupt too, in the form of vertical yellow and gray lines surrounding water.

Hi. and welcome to World of Gothic forums.
To the second problem, you already know the answer. Don't use AA.

Error:
Grafic-Problems: Parts of the world missing or you see black areas.
Solution:
- Install the newest GPU-driver.
- Disable Anti-Aliasing and anisotropic filtering in the options of your GPU-driver. (Or switch it to "Application controlled").
- For Pixelshader 2.0 GPUs it's a must-do to disable depth of field.
To the first problem: what patch version are you using? What operating system? How much ram do you have?

1.12 is the patchlevel, if I am not mistaken.
And I've been around this forum since G1, just forgot my nick and had to register again.

I had this issue the second time I played the game. The game did not actually freeze for me. It gives me an error about a "spectator script." I'm guessing this means that during a fight a script is run to make sure fight spectators don't join in and fight you. Either way, if you hit the space bar when this happens (may have to alt+tab out) it should resume the game like normal. This did not cause issues with fighting in the future either.
--This is definitely not a Morning Star, but you try to explain that to an Ogre.
-
It happened to me as well, but just click on "ignore", and you can get back to your game.
-
It happened to me several times and hitting spacebar does not help;
what I did was I did not take anything from the beaten orcs, not even their weapon, because the game only crashed on me if I did this...
-
Did you try hitting "Alt+Tab" to go out of G3 to the error that comes up? This is what Pety suggested and I had done this as well.

nop, didn't try that...
tnx

I cannot use Alt-Tab solution, as on my machine I get a black screen when I return. The graphics does not restore itself properly.
And it just freezes, no message or something. Do you need to be in Marvin mode to get the error message about the script?

You don't have to be in the marvin mode to get an error-message.
Maybe you could just spawn Torak somewhere else and beat him up:
spawn Torak

No the script happens outside of G3. It's a seperate small pop up box that gives you the options to cancel, retry, and abort. Chosing "Abort" will let you continue in the game. If G3 does not restore, then I have no way of getting around this problem. Sry

with me, the game crashed, although i'll try alt+tab, as i could see the message, but the game's a bit slow with minimizing, so i would need a way to delay the game from crashing. Any ideas?

Just an idea:
You could set the resolution very low in the game and activate the window-mode (while marvin is active press the "f2"-key.
-
setting the resolution doesn't do anything for me, unfortunately
-
And what's about the window-mode? Tested it?

1.) I heard something in the german help, they had the same problem. They did it like this:
Wait till the night begins. Many orcs have to go to bed, then go quickly to Torok an say that you want to duell him. Then fight him. Normaly it should work now.
Someone said, the clapping orcs are the cause of the bug.
Maybe it works

Need to try fighting at night thing. However I liked the clapping ork and slaves thing. One of the things that made Gothic unique, like playing lute by the fire in G1.
I start flaming wars... with a flaming sword.

doing it at night works, i tried it, but loiter around for a while so the orks have time to go to bed.

Worked like a charm. Even one ork's clapping freezes the game.

Heh, this happened to me too, only now, whenever I come back to Faring Castle (or near it), I get the message again..... [alt+tab+abort again]
