First of all hello everybody

I ve read a lot of topics here but couldn't find an answer to this problem i m having.
The situation is as follows:

1.I am a member of the ring of water.
2.I have the ring on.
3.I have 2 fragments of the ring.
4.I have exhausted all conversation topics with lares, vatras, and all the water mages.
5. I am in the second chapter and have been at the castle and spoken to garond.


And as i said in the topic title, i cant get satures to receive the letter from vatras and give me the task of rebuilt the ornament ring to open the portal... Nefarious doesnt tell me anything, and i cant get the key from merdarion...

What should i do?!? Is it maybe something I'm missing?! How can i go the addon world if this cant be fixed?? I ve read that i can get the 3rd part of the ring only after nefarious gives me the quest and only then will the ceremony begin.

Hmm.. when you return from the Valley of Mines, shouldn't you be in Chapter 3? Maybe it's a bug?

if its a bug i hope its not unfixable... I m at level 14, i would hate to have to restart...

Sounds for me like the well-known Lares-Bug.
What version of the game do you have? (In the main-game-menu you see lower right something like 2.60,... 2.50)
Anyway, just try to install this patch:

g2addon_scriptpatch.2.60.3.exe

§welcome You mean Lord Hagen not Lord Andre he is the comander of the militia. I have the same bug with Lares, he does'nt take me to the forest and do not escort to Saturas

If you what to re-install the game just put the "Saves" folder on a CD or copy it some where else. After that replace them with those ones. But, if it's a problem with the saves, then try the patch.

If you have Gothic II version 2.6:

• open the character screen (B)
• type the word "lares" (without quotes)
• close the character screen (B)

If Lares still had the missing ornament, it will now be in your inventory.

If that doesn't solve the problem - you should take the time to describe the places where your collected the ornaments (maybe you just forgot one...).

Yes Flea, i meant lord hagen, i got confused

I found out that it is indeed a known bug: If you ask lares to take you to onar's farm first, then when he goes back you can never get in conversation with him the option of him taking you to the water mages, thus you can never get the ornament that lares has.

After searching a lot the only walk-around to the bug i found was activating marvin mode, (type "marvin" while on the character sheet) and inserting the ornament by typing in the console “insert itmi_ornament_addon_vatras". (you can activate the console by pressing F2 while in marvin mode). After that, i could finally give the ornament to saturas and reach the addon world.

I already had the latest patch, and its a known bug apparently, one that sadly cannot be solved in conventional methods other than reloading/restarting and asking lares to take you to the water mages first...

thanks for your fix! i had the same problem. this is very curious, because, firstly lares doesnt have anything to do with vatras letter, and secondly it seems the developers have foreseen this situation because when you solve the missing people quest and go to vatras to take the letter he says: you can talk to lares to bring you to the mages, IF he hasnt taken the ornament to them yet. Apparently, to the developers there is a situation where lares brings the ornament already and thats why the dialog never appears. Well, that is bugged, because lares is such a lazy asshole, that not only he didnt bring the ornament ,but he wont take you to the water mages too. well, shame on him! Thanks again, i was stuck in the same place. Although the first time a played it i went to the mages first so i walked around this bug (without knowing it), i hate that this time saturas doesnt tell me that i met the only water mage that doesnt know me (vatras), and thats why i got into the circle
