Gothic 2 gameplay in Gothic 1?
As the title says: Is it possible to get the gameplay of Gothic 2 in Gothic 1? I can't get used to the Gothic 1 gameplay.
Also, is it possible to get one-click buttons in Gothic 1? Instead of having to press ctrl + w and such all the time?
-
you don't have to ctrl + w...just l click and w you'll get used to it. oh...and if u want to pick up more than one item...or pick up faster press alt.or shift.i forgot
-
Nope, that's not possible.
You'll have to get used to the G1 controls.
-
Ah ok i think i should do that then.
But the mouse control feels a little bit different too, but i think that's something to get used to too.
Btw i got the demo of Gothic 1, and ask this before i buy the game.

Really, why does everyone go for CTRL + W or smth. Can't you just use LMB + W or smth? It's very easy and allows one to steer the NH while moving, or look around, or even to aim during fights VERY easily.

I also can move the mouse while using Ctrl, so where's the problem?
With the left hand I control Ctrl, WASDQE, X, Alt, Tab, 1 and 2, the right hand moves the mouse to look around.
And everything works fine as you can see in videos like this.
(but in the end you just have to practice; I first played with Ctrl and so I got used to it, other players first played with the mouse ...)

The left hand might get numb when holding many buttons pressed, trust me, I've had my share of experience, bad one

Arent things like THESE the stuff that should have been caught in the GUI user tests?

What do you mean?
When the interface and the default control scheme is implemented in the product, usually there are numerous tests for usability, learnability, ergonomy, and such things. Using both people in and out of house to receive feedback on how good the user interface / control scheme is.
If many people end up doing something that is not the "direct" or best way to do so, it is a hint of a problem in design.
So either PB did not bother to do even a single user-test case on their creation, or they did all the testing themselves (Which works incredibly poorly when you have been working in the project for many months. No perspective whatsoever to the potential flaws).

Hmm, perhaps. I don't suppose this was the reason behind the choppy controls in G1.

Well, my hand doesn't, so it seems that we have different experiences.
You also don't press many buttons at once for a longer time, only Ctrl. And I don't think that there's a big difference between holding Ctrl with the left hand and holding the left mouse button with the right hand (as you can see just on the fact, that we both have no problems).
Well yeah, I suppose.
But when did my hand go numb after all? I'm positive that happened.
