'Man is alone in darkness, he must bring his own light' group philosophy thread
Man is alone in darkness, he must bring his own light.
This is a good saying. I don't know where it comes from, but it certainly deserves attention. Here is how I imagine this game/common philosophy thread:
We shall begin from this and slightly alter it, one or two words at a time. I expect you would do this seriously, not as a play or as a tool for post hunting, therefor I am not setting a post/day limit. Oh, and the posts should contain a small rationalism to show how you got to that point.
Man is alone in darkness, he must bring his own light...
Maladiq said:
And what is his light? Is his light the engine of his being, the ultimate and hidden energy behind everything which you can call alive? Is it the hope when you despair? That would mean darkness is sadness. But darkness is the status quo, as darkness exists simply without anything more. But light needs its source. SO what is light?
Ovi: I don't know, I think the author took dark as the space, as the usual pattern, and when saying that man must bring his own light he meant that Man can only enlighten himself, nobody else can do it for him. Or he wanted to say that man must get himself out of the usual pattern and become a name among number, a light in the darkness !
M: That would suggest man himself is the source of light if we are to believe what you say. If man would be a lamp, he would be a lamp full of oil. But what fires that oil? What is the flame that starts it all?
O: Stillness, silence, darkness ? What we're trying to say here is that out of mere darkness light can come ? I think that's an interesting thought
Or a glimpse of genius ?
M: I reckon it is a mere effect of the human essence, ergo light does not come from mere darkness, but it is omnipresent and does not need a beginning to exists.
So:
Man is alone in darkness, he must be his own light.

But what if darkness is actually the unknown, the fear of something, the supreme enemy? "He must bring his own light". That would mean that the unknown can be turned into known. When you bring the light into the darkness, the darkness goes away, and so does the unknown. So if there is light, there's no more darkness and if it's darkness there's no light. It's like the Sun and the Moon. They never meet. Or they could be just some meaningless words.

Light. Which actually is knowledge.
But actually, you never get to know your unknown that's why it's called like this... It is present when it's darkness but you can't see it and when you bring the light, you can't see it because it's "unknown".

"Man is alone in darkness, he must bring his own light."
If man must bring his own light, then we can assume that the light already exists somewhere and from there, he must bring it into the darkness.
That way the darkness is no more and everything is light.
Let's create a small example.
Man is alone in a dark room. This room is dark because there are no windows.
There is a door that leads to another room, which is lighted. This room is lighted because it has a lot of windows.
Outside this building, the weather is sunny and there are no clouds.
What do you think of our man now?
-
The first room gets lighted too, so light defeats darkness. If you are in the second room and you close the door, the light is still there..What about the number "9" of the original thread? Does it mean something?

0.(9) = 1
that's all that comes to my mind

Before creation, darkness was all, and it waits even now beyond the edges of all worlds. In time, the greatest of lights and the brightest of suns must dim and gutter. Day might banish night for a while, but night always returns. It is the ultimate conclusion. Darkness is the only true eternal concept of creation, and, as such, it is the greatest. Symbolically and physically, darkness is the ultimate force - the final result of all efforts. Behind all the fire, between the worlds, in all the empty spaces, at the end of all things, it is there. Matter, light, life - these things are fleeting. Darkness, only darkness is eternal. All things fall into darkness even light. Shadows do not represent the absence of light; they show the presence of darkness. Thus, shadow and darkness are not death or diminishment; they are the fundamental state of the universe, the constant that existed before, that exists now, and that will exist when all other things are snuffed out.
Darkness is all, all falls in darkness.
The darkness within me... No... My self within the dark.
My self within the dark... No... The darkness within me.

Psychologically-speaking, the dark night is a profound
experience that strips away our false self and brings to
awareness deeply buried traumas or developmental failures
that can be integrated toward individuation: a mature
sense of wholeness. Regardless of whether we
consider the dark night to be a religious or psychological
experience, or both, if the person is able to endure
it, his or her life will be extremely changed toward a
newly-centered consciousness; in psychological terms
toward a realignment of the ego with the Self, the central
archetype of order.
In the development of the ego-Self alignment, the ego
will no longer be the center of its own universe but will be
dedicated toward this new center of being with a confidence
that something larger is working within the individual
toward accomplishing things for the greater good.
As this new center emerges, the temporary state of ‘‘spiritual
madness’’ fades. Gratitude and joy abound.

The poem of the darkness:
Who should say what exists and what is just
the center of imagination?
Am I to blame for what I'm not
or intellectual fornication...?
The nothingness which you have brought
has closed your eyes forever,
and everything that you are not
shall be your sole temptation.
How can I walk, when only doubt
has risen: my creation?
I cannot think, nor can I walk,
cause darkness is forever.

Problem with this thread is that it's about philosophy. It's too boring to be kept interesting and requires too much thought to increase your post count.

I say that what is there in the light is also there in the darkness. So if light represents knowledge, then what there is to know, the "truth", is there whether or not we perceive it, or whether or not we are willing to accept it. So one could just as easily say that there is no darkness, only eternal light, all else is an illusion.
Man is alone in the light; he is the darkness.
Meaning: The truth is all around him; but his lack of perception, or unwillingness to accept it, makes him blind.
-
Man can be all alone in the sun but feel surrounded by a thick mist which blocks the light. There is no actual darkness, only the inability to sense the bright and warm light.
Man can stand in the daylight, facing to the sun, but right in front of his eyes, a taller man leaves our man in a cone of shadow with his menacing stature. What do you think about this?

You're an idiot for saying this. Yep. You're not even trying. Go away and keep talking about all sorts of unimportant shit like football that does not feed your soul and mind but increases your post count.
Happiness is what motivates me through its absence!
Faith is what makes you weak!
Love is nothing but an egocentric game.

What is illusion? Illusion is a wrongful perception. But isn't it perception that tells us the reality around us? And as there is no universal truth, as reality is different for each single person, it is clear that illusions are reality. Correlating this with your post, anything that is not real is darkness. Therefor a man would rather live in lie, than drink from the cup of nothingness.

Man is alone in darkness, he must bring his own light.
Before man, there was darkness. When there is man, it is up to man to bring light to the darkness. Man invented fire, but it is up to man to utilize this knowledge.
Man has the ability to think for himself. Without man, there are no thoughts.
