Ok. I uninstalled g2 in some time now and im trying to Install it again. All is fine until i must insert cd2. In some minutes i get this error:

An I/0 error occurred while installing the file. This is normally
caused by bad installation media or a corrupt installation file.
Abort Retry

This is really eating my nerves this days so any help is welcome:)

Maybe you damaged the sensitive part of the CD. This is the logical answer, if it never happened to you before.
I`m not a specialist. :(

Maybe your CD drive (or DVD) didn' read it. Try with another if you have one, or at a friend. I have some cd's that my old CD drive didn't read them, so now I have a new one.

Either your cd is messed up or your cd drive is messed up

if the cd is the problem install until the error occurs eject & inject (I’m not sure is this is the correct expression but nothing else comes in my mind right now) & hit retry if this doesn't work could throw away the cd because is useless

if the cd drive is the problem get a new cd drive

Well, first try another dvd/cd-rom drive like cipris said.

Then you can try this:

- Try to install the game in Windows-Safe mode

Things you could also try, but i think it´s more the CD itself, how does it look, are there scratches on it? Try to clean it (carefully).

- Viruses and spy-ware

Check your system for Viruses with this freeware:
AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic (http://www.free-av.com/)

Check your system for spyware with this freeware:
Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition 1.06 (http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html)
Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.4 (http://www.download.com/3000-8022-10122137.html)

- Also try to deinstall all programs which create a virtual-drive on your system, all burn-programs and all which is from Norton.

- Insert CD-ROM, download this:
gothic2-setup.zip (http://forum.worldofplayers.de/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1200) Unzip it and start Gothic2-Setup.bat ...

The same for Addon. (http://forum.worldofplayers.de/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1201)

Try copy the cd to the computer and then try to install it or try to make an image of the cd and then mount it up with Dameon tools
