Where do I get those. Do I have to be mercenary/pal/mage?

And another thing. About smithing. I know you can smith raw steel and what not, but what's with blades? Red hot blades and stuff. Everytime I try to use one on the waterbucket for example, it just dissappears. Is it supposed to do that?
Smithing. In G2 you only need a hot billet and then hammer it on an anvil. Nothing more or less.
About Dragon Slayer swords. Every weapon has an affect against the dragons. (That is, when it has enough damage and when you're strong enough) Mercenary get's the most weapons that has something to do with the dragons. But with every guild you can get a Dragon Slicer from a cave, which is situaeted somewhere in the northern Khorinis. Near to the Black Troll.
Oh.. and don't double post. :p Use http://forum.worldofplayers.de/layouts/wog-en/edit.gif to edit your post

No [Spawn] he asked what guild gets Dragon Class weapons (Dragon Hunter Swords and Crossbows).
The class you mean (@Lost_cause72) is Mercenaries and you will get those weapons in Chapter 4 of Gothic 2.
The weapons are for a sub-class of Mercenaries named Dragon Hunters (name speaks for itself).
And the requirements are that:
-you are a Mercenary and choose Dragon Hunter sub-class (I never player Merc that much so don't really count on it)
-you know forgeing
-you have enough money to spend for the swords and armors
Hope I enlightened you. :p

You mean, there's the Dragon Slicer sword to the North, but there's no other special effect that swords has, only the damage.
And i think the red hot blade becomes a normal raw blade when it is cooled down in the water. But not for sure.

To forge a sword in Gothic 2 you only have to know forgeing and have a steel bilit.
Ok,
The Bow and Crossbow are available to everyone i believe, so that you need not worry about those.
The Large Ore Dragon Slayer and the Ore Dragon Slayer are only available to Dragon Hunter's though (the second tier of the Mercenary faction... so you have to choose mercenary in the beginning). They are forged by the player, and they require vials of Dragon Blood (so make sure you have that hunting skill BEFORE you kill any dragons, you should also get the take Dragon Scale skill). if memory serves they each require five vials of dragon blood (or some such, enough that either way, you can't have both in the fifth chapter) 4 ore for the Ore Dragon Slayer, and 5 ore for the Large Dragon Slayer. Hope that helps (oh, in order to get access to the recipes you must know how to make a level 1 sword... i.e. the basic sword... but you require no more smithing knowledge than that)

Okay Numazel that's exactly what I needed to know. I have killed a couple dragons and I am a dragon hunter and what not. I can collect the blood and all. Just the process of getting those swords.
I understand how smithing works (raw steel forging). I just wondered if there was something else I hadn't caught yet with the red hot blades and such. Apparently not!

Welcome to the jungle. I won't say anything about writing in the welcome thread :D
First, if you learn the hunting skills later, you can still go back for the dead dragons and get everything from them.

I still don't know how to make them! I have plenty of dragon blood at my disposal (and have cheated for it for experimental sake). I have plenty of ore, and I can make lots of sword types. Does someone teach me how to do it? Where do I make them at?
Bennett will teach you, not until Chapter Five though (if memory serves, i know he teaches you, might possibly be Chapter Four, but i'm pretty sure it's Chapter Five)

You can make these swords only when you've read the book, when you are DH
