Hey,i was very angry the other days that i couldn't find that freakin way to enter khorinis by "swimming" so i tried very hard and i've managed....but the thing is i didn't have to swim....if i did find another way just say it and i'll explain but if i didn't find it...then sorry for even mention it.....Ohh, almost forgot, has anybody found the way to cross the pass through the ore colony at the begining of the game, from xardas tower....???
do you mean that secret passage that xardas is telling you about at the begining of the game?
You mean.. there is a way directly to the Valley of Mines from Xardas' new tower?

All the possible ways to get in the city
Besides the three obvious options to get into the city of Khorinis, there is
also another more lucrative option here - namely to get into the city without
using the gates. Not only will this net you a handsome sum of xp for your
efforts, but can also be done without upsetting the other quests. Meaning you
can do this sidequest, and still work your way to Lobart's Work Clothes and
getting into the city the regular way, quests and xp intanct.
Before embarking on this little romp through the forrest however, it's a good
idea to finnish the "A Pan for Hilda" quest, as Canthar the merchant will pack
up and leave for the city once you have entered it for the first time. Also
note that this little venture is very risky and probably aimed at more
experienced players if you're just starting out.
Anyway, here's how. First find your way up to the Statue of Innos again where
you first met Maleth. On the other side of the road, you can make out the
dense forrest on a lower level than the road, but it looks to be a higher drop
than you can survive. Make your way to the point where the ledge starts and
you can see the steep mountainside continue further. Ie, the absolute earliest
opportunity to jump down (don't yet though). The fall here is too high and
will kill you, but there's a little trick to be done here. If you jump off the
ledge you're on, aiming to crash in mountainside - jumping off the ledge, but
into the cliffside on your left - you will be bounced off it and into the
ground, where the total drop only counts as a risky fall doing some damage and
not killing you. It takes a few tries to get right, but keep at it and you
should find yourself on the forrest floor below the ledge soon enough.
Once down, you are in the close vicinity of a band of Black Goblins - probably
way too tough to take on by this point, so lets try to leg it past them. Run
as fast as you can along the cliffside and you should loose the goblins when
you see this part of the forrest makes way to a greengrass strip and a small
mountain alley. You can probably aslo see the top of a mast on a big ship
anchored on the other side.
At the very bend in this new alley, walk up the corner and there should be a
sloope there that you can jump up on and not slide down again. Finding and
getting up here should leave you atop a very narrow cliffside, where you will
see the Paladin's ship and harbour on the other side. Run along the steep
cliff - almost like a razors edge - all the way over to the bandit cave .From here the grassy strip on top of the cliff ends, and you should
see some makeshift tents to your left down on the beach. Take a careful
sideways drop down on a mountain ledge just below the one you're standing on
now, and from there, jump across to the roof of the nearest tent, and then
finally drop from the tent roof onto the beach. Congratulations, you're now
right smack inside the city of Khorinis.
You can colect weeds (in Notr) and speak with Lester--you'll recive "Herbs for Constantion" Quest.
OR
make your way along the docks and don't talk to
anybody before you meet Lares. He will utter a suprised remark,
asking how you got into the city, and if you actually swam in. This will also
net you a very handsome +500xp. There's also some other suprised remarks
around, but you can now make your way out of the city again through the South
Gate and continue what you were doing. The quest "How to get into the City of
Khorinis" will still be in your questlog, and you can finnish it now by
getting Lobart's work clothes and saying you are here to see the blacksmith as
you would normally.
Those are all the entry ways in the city I've found.

That method (totaly forgot about it) is not researched. I found a way to see the gate, the pass but i didn't managed to reach over the pass. I will try this in the coming days.

Not sure if this is known here, but you can sneak into Khorinis behind the guard on the right without them noticing you! Then just avoid the people who you know will automatically converse with you while making your way to the docks unnoticed to talk to Lares for 500 exp points. I think I saw this in Ellusions' guide, but I've tried it for all my characters so far and it works.

A funny thing I stumbled upon after starting a new game as that it's possible to enter the valley of mines within 5 mins of the game, without talking to anyone except xardas, and without cheating.
We all know about the corpse behind the tower, right?
Well, instead of going to the corpse, you climb up a bit higher and you should see a "floating" tree, walk past the tree and onto the ledge, continue north untill you see a ledge roughly 1 metre below it, you should be able to slide down to it, do so, continue untill the very end of this ledge, turn towards to mountain side and climb up, then walk over the mountain towards the entrance of the valley of mines, you can keep walking over the mountain to avoid all the nasties, when the mountain makes a U turn, slide down carefully (I died on the first attempt), then walk back towards the orcs, and you should enter the valley of mines.
It's just odd that it's possible to go there so fast...

Many things are "odd" in Gothic. That's why I like it !!! :)
ql but you dont stand a chance in the vally of the mines if you arn't at least at level 10

Hmmm...you mean this way? click (http://img8.imageshack.us/my.php?image=freeclimbingkurs8xi.jpg)

PS : i never managed to say hello. :)
There are many hidden ways into Khorinis and into the penal colony
I know that way...
I managed to eneter the Valley Of Mines... well, I enjoy climbing the weirdest places...
It's so much fun :D .

Err... yeah, I misread that one a bit and thought you'd have to climb somewhere near those paladins...
But anyways, I also made it back alive, running through the orcs and wolves, killed the single junger wolf that was pursueing me at the door, then walked up the beam on the right and jumped over the palisade.
I was richer: 1 Steinbrecher, 1 Wolf Skin, 1 Warg Skin, 1 Raw Meat and a potion of some type. (I couldn't skin wolves at that moment)
Too bad I can't use that Steinbrecher yet...
Try looking into the caves acros the map and you will find many items and some very good swords.

Like that dragoncutter? (spelling?)
I don't think I can use that yet, as a lvl 2...
No you will have to at least lv.10, I think the best weapon I had was the DRAGONSLAYER (forged it from 5 ore,5 dragon blood), as a dragon hunter, but as a paladin I had the WRATH OF INNOS (ore sword concecrated with TEARS OF INNOS)
Interesting ways aroung Khorinis!!!! Didn`t know them! :) But now I know! :D
I saw a way into Khorinis, if you jump down on a rock from JACK'S LIGHTHOUSE you get to Khorinis into the harbour district.

That is why they need so much time to develop the game ;)
i dont undersand what's in it for me if i get to the VoM right t the beginning of the game .... i'll get exp or is just fot fun???
Your question is sth like, "What does TheWonderer (http://forum.worldofplayers.de/forum/member.php?userid=7955) get if he finishes Gothic 1 in 2 hours (http://www.worldofgothic.de/dl/index.php?go=downloads&release_id=134) ?" :p
You just play Gothic to it's limits. You don't get any EXP in the game, you get EXP in playing Gothic :p
Are this bugs in the game that you can enter a location from different places, or have the developers made the game so realistic that you can use the environment to your benefit, if this ways were made intentionaly than its cool, if not who cares we only have more fun exploring the world :D
