I don't see how you guys can play this game (or any game...except maybe Tropico or Zeus or something) keyboard only.
I play all games with mouse and a Nostromo speed pad...it's great for D3..HL2...(both of which still suck.)
You can lay out your own keys....but you can also lay out macros! Which enables you to *make* combos!
That can be activated with a single button!

Like *forward* *Block* *right slide* *block*...you can even put in the length of time that each key is depressed!

And what about spell sequencers?
Cast fire arrow.. then ice arrow.. then heal... then something else by just one click...
Anyway...if you want to try one ..thier pretty cheap..40 US or less..they even have a new and improved one.
I know I sound like a pitchman for them, but it has just made FPSs ,RPGs like Gothic..Morro etc a lot more easy to use...and more fun.
Too many keys on the keyboard! I get too fuddled sometimes to push the correct button.
Like some monster jumps out ( aka D3) and I push the flashlight button instead of the BFG  and die a horrible death.
G3 was absouloty great with a Speed Pad...Ultra graphics..Draw and item draw set to max etc....Too bad the end was such a let down.
Peace..

The combos or moves your guy learns are kinda cool..but toward the end or any part really, your guy is always so swarmed and surronded by the enemy as to make any lengthy move not worth anything.

Only for flight and space sims a joystick is a must. For racegames I prefer the PS2 joypads. (Gran Tourismo fan boiling up :D )

c'mon! this is lame. next you will need a "kill all monsters" button. let it be challenging. use the mouse and keyz!

there is a "kill-all-monsters" button

it's a skill (free translated from german): deathwave/massdying

If you can't stand the challenge don't play...you have much more freedom with the keyboard.I think it's stupid.

What's a joystick?
What's a mouse, anyway?
Keyboards are for real men...
and for laptop players, like me.
And I never bothered spending 5 LP to buy the mouse skill. Everything goes in 2-handed keyboard (30% so far).
Now, can we shoot arrows with an optic pen?

Well I like a joystick more than I like the keyboard.

But that's because I always played with a console and not on a PC. I'm more used to it. But when yuo want much more keys you can use, take the keyboard. ^_-

I haven't used a gamepad for ages. May have sth to do that I don't pay any attention to consoles and my PC games are either RPG or strategy centred.

The advantage of this Nostromo pad seems to be the combination of a keyboard and a gamepad.

With regard to Gothic (G2 only, I presume): can we put a sequence of spells or combat combos together on one key?

Like keida said: we can lay out our own keys on any conventional keyboard, but macros are not supported by Gothic, or are they?
