Gothic 1 CTD at a point

Every time I approach the second orc undead shaman I get this error message and CTD:

What could fix this?

Judging by the error message it seems that the application can't find the file in the .vdf file for that items, maybe your .vdf file is corrupted, does this happens often? maybe reinstalling the game will work. that is if your game cd didn't have a corrupted file in the first place.
