Do not update it from 1.06 to 1.07!It doesnt support the patch 1.06!Uninstall the game and all the patches and install the game again, install the patch 1.04 and then the patch 1.07 without the patch 1.07!

GeorgeK

That way worked for me also. But why is it left to us gamers to discover this:rolleyes:

I DID EXACTLY AS YOU WRITE. REINSTALL THE GAME APPLY THE 1.4 PATCH AND THEN THE 1.7.FINISH THE INSTALL OF THE 1.7 [ WITH SUCCESS]AND A POP UP WINDOW SAYS"COULDNOT FIND THE BINKW32DLL"

NOW THE GAME VERSION IS WITH 1.4

ANY OTHER IDEAS??

A LITTLE MAGIC MAYBE??

Look to where the patch has been installed. Cuz me i had to install patch and then copy it from that location to my real location and run .bat file. and the game work. and i installed it over 1.06 patch. and works.

and install the game again, install the patch 1.04 and then the patch 1.07

It's recommended to install ONLY the patch 1.0.7.

GeorgeK
25.12.2008, 02:07
Previously it was recommended to install first 1.04, then 1.07. Did that on a fresh install of the game. Now the stalling is worse than ever.

If you recommend only 1.07, then it must be inclusive (all previous patches incorporated) ?

IMHO jimokalos is sometimes a bit very optimistic when it comes to forsaken gods.

Not sure what Jowood done there, impossible to say since changelogs of the older patches are missing.

I don't recommend to install only 1.0.7, but JoWood did (also to reinstall the game), i guess they have their reasons. :dnuhr:

This is a total waste of MY time. Tried only the 1.07 patch. Now the pausing occurs during conversations. Also, Nameless will be looking away and the person speaking will also be reading a book at the same time. When one character has something to say, the other character will be doing the talking.

April 1st in December

I'm uninstalling FG and moving on to something else.

checked method: Uninstall game, install it, install 1.04 and 1.06 patches, install 1.07 patch, go to uninstal programs in control panel, delete 1.07 and 1.06 patches through that place, install 1.07 patch - wolla, first run won't get to main menu, second will be perfect ! ( My method, long, but checked)

A tiny bit of information that may help:

If you've installed your Gothic game in a different location than the one it suggests, you need to manually point the patch installation to that directory.
Unlike the older games, this one doesn't autodetect where you've installed it and so you might end up with a patch installation in a completely different directory.

That was my initial error §gnah

Why aren't gamers posting their own particular problems after patch 1.07?

I decided to try again and still same major issue; freezing for several seconds when running around, and even while talking to an npc.

Also while talking to an npc, Nameless will suddenly start running some distance before stopping and the conversation is still going on.

Sometimes the npc will start walking off while the conversation is still going on.

When choosing a topic for Nameless, the npc does tha talking.

All the above is what's really killing the game for me. Waiting several seconds at a time before the game decides to resume.

Fresh install of FG, and then 1.07 patch. Whoooeee what a mess. The entire game is running off the hard drive. Nothing is cached to ram. I can't take 3 steps without a pause and a hard drive seek. I can't turn without a 10 second screen freeze. Everything is properly installed to the Dreamcatcher folder. I've tried editing G3.ini to make it more like G3 with patch 1.6 .. which runs very well on my game box. Nothing seems to help with this new
1.07 patch. Also, all of the bugs I saw with the 2 earlier patches are still there ... all of them. Nothing was fixed in this patch, and the game runs much worse. The game is spending all its time drawing trees and buildings that are only 100 feet away. Every step I take, a new object is drawn in the distance. Many of the dead Orcs and animals are 10 feet off the ground. In conversations, nobody faces anybody ... and worse, they just walk off a long ways. I'm sure most of this is big errors in G3.ini. How can we fix it ?
I see a lot of changes that were made by this patch. I think some of that stuff should not be running at all. What should be changed ?

FG has a trainload of INI files compared to G3. Apparently there was an attempt to fix the game with a bunch of ini's rather than redo major files or even fix the game engine (is that possible?)

johns1234
28.12.2008, 06:05
If you compare G3 .. g3.ini to FG .. g3.ini there are obvious typos in the FG ini file ... off by a factor of 10x in one case. Also, some test mode settings were left on. I think those settings are heavy debuggers and must load the system doing it.

It' time to beg the Community Patch coders to do something. They fixed G3, and what I see in FG is exactly what they had to clean up in original G3. FG doesn't even come up to the standards of G3 with the first patch it had. It is original G3 with all the bugs.

Are we suppose to be installing as G3FG, then patch 1 and patch 1.06 ... and then tack on patch 1.07 ???? but just delete the save games ?

Folks, this is a complete joke. I've got dialogs reversed, and during those dialogs my character climbs 10 feet up a wall and faces backwards. This patch completely ruins the game. It's is not funny anymore. I really am beginning to think the English patch 1.07 has been vandalized by someone before it was sent to the USA. The game is completely unplayable like this.

I noticed that while in empty caves, the nameless one moves absolutely flawless. It's just when he is around other npc's and animals, the cache seems to be overloaded.

Another tidbit; found a really super sword that's labeled two handed. After sharpening and blessing it, it has 300 damage but it does far less damage than the InnosWrath that has about half the rated damage. Besides, nameless holds the two handed super 300 sword with just one hand

I've got a clue here, and it's a big one !!!! I uninstalled everything, and reinstalled FG only. No patches at all. None !!!!! The game runs smooth and easy. All the dialogs so far are normal. Screen glitches are minimal. Distance rendering is very good, and no noticeable redrawing of nearby objects. Also,
I tried turning while moving, and I can turn easily with no long pauses. My settings are 1440 x 900, High video default, and I did not edit the G3.ini to
increase any cache sizes. The game is running fine so far. I even left AA turned on although I don't need it at 1440 x 900 .. totally default settings.
I've been through FG 2x using patches 1 and 1.06. I did have a lot of problems, but nothing as bad as the reinstall with patch 1.07. I'll go through FG with no patches and report back to this forum. NOW !!! If what I suspect is true, and the game continues to run as well as it is running now, we need to go talk to the funny guys !!!!

It is good enough to play G3, Oblivion, The Witcher, Bioshock, DL, Fallout 3, Two Worlds, etc. Let's face it, I seriously doubt there is any setup that will play Forsaken Gods 60 to 70 percent. The game is simply NOT ready for market. Us gamers have merely paid for the privelege of being beta testers.

Update: FG with no patches. I'm at Montera working Kan's quests. Everything has run fine so far. No lost sound in dialogs at all. Only quest that gave trouble was returning the spy to Inog. It failed. No biggie. I just went ahead and whacked the Black Mage, and Inog was happy and I escorted him to Anog ... and the game went on normally. Movement and graphics in FG with no patches is just as good as Gothic 3 patch 1.6. I have very little screen pauses, and only at area uploads. I really recommend that you guys try this too. I think you will be pleasently surprised at how well the game runs with no patches at all. I'll post again when I get about half way through.

I tried the same thing. However, after extended play, the game started to slow down and eventually quit with an error about the game.exe.

Anyhow, during gameplay, talked to the mysterious wanderer and found 3 of his packages but could not pick any of them up

Update: G3FG no patches. I'm doing Gorn's quests now. So far, I have seen no missing voices during dialogs !!!! Not even one time. There have been no slow downs at all, and the graphics are very very good. With patches, most of the dialogs were failing by this time in the game.

I did see one problem that is clearly the NOTR problem. I was in a new area just outside the Rebel camp near Ardea when I crashed with a "memory exception" error. Aha! I tried the same place again from a reload ... same error again. I went back to a Trader and unloaded my Inventory about half way. Then I returned to the crash place, and no problem getting past it at all.

Something else. I notice that the chests and cases are not crammed with booty as they were with patches 1 and 1.06. Also, I have not found a single instance of Paladin Armor anywhere .. including the Trader who sold it in Vengard.

Update: G3FG no patches at all. I completed all the quests in the castle courtyard, and upon returning with the Wife from Faring, and reporting to her husband, Lee appeared in Rhobars throne room, sitting on the throne. I'm now doing Lee's quests with his Paladin General. I have seen no problems at all in the 2nd half of this game. No missing voices in dialogs. No failed quests. I did find Paladin armor in a chest beside Rhobar's throne. So now, I'm one tough cookie :-P And the game is running beautifully.

Final update: G3FG no patches at all. The game ended with no problems. I did know that Milten would get stuck on the way to Vengard, so I walked the path I knew he would take and got him going again. Other than that, I enjoyed the game, and I recommend it be played with no patches. The only problem I saw in the entire game was the early on quest to bring the spy to Inog. It failed, but I simply went and killed the Black Mage, and the game proceeded normally without another serious error worth mentioning. Not only that, it played with very good graphics, and essentially no screen stutter other than area uploads ... which were minimal. Also, there was no missing dialog at all.

Conclusion: darned if I know. It is a good game.

Hmm, reinstalled FG, 1.04, 1.06, 1.07. Removed 1.07, 1.06. Again installed 1.07. Works for me.

Unfortunately I was dissapointed by far more bugs. Game went slower than with the patch 1.06. Therefore I decided to try out FG without patches. I will post my experience if I won't forget.
