Hi folks...

I'm new here and just registered me to ask something that boring me.

I have a Saphire HD3850 512DDR3 and 2.0Gb RAM, but when i start the Gothic 3 the graphics go crash and i can see nothing. All graphics colors and texttures get mixed in screen. I install the DX9 newest and then the DX that came in game. I use the CCC video driver Catalyst 8.10.

I found a similiar problem around here:
http://forum.worldofplayers.de/forum/showthread.php?t=335591&highlight=3850

But is hard to believe that game isn't supported in that vga.

So if someone knews something, i would really apreciate.

G3 is a real memory hog and 2 gigs of ram is barely enough; windows takes 300-400 mb of ram, leaving 1.5-1.6 mb for the game (assuming there's nothing extra running in the background). Another gig of ram would be much better and just because you have the graphics, don't insist on running the game at max res.

Hi and §welcome to the forum!

Such graphic-glitches can have different reasons. Is your GPU kinda "old" (means dusty), maybe there are temperature problems, VRAM could be damaged, GPU-drivers are not installed correctly (do you have unistalled GPU-drivers before updated them?).

So, thanx a lot for the welcome.

Well i bought a new HD3850 three months later. And the temperature is cool (between 60° and 65° Celsius), i'm afraid that new ati driver video isn't supported by the game. Once i used that Omega Driver, but get so damn lag in all games, and i quit and returned to CCC.
There some guys using the CCC 8.12 Beta, i'm thinking to use it too. I hope works. Thanks for now.

Frankly, I dont think the drivers have much to do with the fact game renders stuff. (In this context)

Everything is ran through HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) of Direct3D anyway, so the drivers not complying problem should be located there. Then again, feels strange that Dx would have such a flaw in its support...
Then again, it cant be a feature that is needed but unsupported by the card, since that would result in a termination.

If the drivers themselves were the problem, every game using same stuff as G3 would behave in a similar fashion.

Then again, Gothic 3 truly is a box of wonders.
