I talked with the orc at the door of the mage, who told me that he's going to a hill every night. Now what should I do? I waited for the night, and the mage's not going anywhere. I was hoping that I could follow him.

It is about Cor Kalom's cauldron, where he brew magic potions... and somehow in the dialog becomes a cup... and it turns out to be an amulet.

So how the hell do you finish this quest!
I'm having the same problem, I talked with the orc and I also followed the mage but nothing!Who am I supposed to talk to?
If anyone knows please help me!

When the mage (or should I say the hero) is at a safe distance from Trelis, kill the mage. Quest solved.

Well I tried killing the mage but it solves another quest but the one about 'gather info about the mage' still remains!:(

Oh, you didn't finished the one about collecting info about the mage.
You have to talk with Silvester, Rudolph, Nicholas and Garan first. Then report to Inog. Only then the quest will be complete and you'll get the quest to kill the mage.

That sucks for me then because Inog doesn't reply to me after that, just says "hurry up and find something" Must be bugged :(

After you escorted Clovis back to Inog, did you talked to Clovis and get the dialog line from him to talk with the above NPCs?
Are you sure you talked with all 4 of them and exhausted all dialog options?
Maybe there's also a order in which you should talk with them.
If they all have nothing more to say, try talking with Inog again.

Thanks. I already talked to all of them, but when I go back to Inog nothing happens. Maybe I should have talked to the before killing the mage, so I screwed up the game?

Oh, quite possibly. The linearity of quests is too strict in FG...
I don't know if you'll manage to convince Inog to escort him to Anog if this quest is still unsolved, maybe loading an older savegame is better. Dunno.

It might be I have to talk to them in a specific order I will reload a old savegame and try, at this stage are Inog and Anog meant to be together because I can't seem to finish that quest either

No, you'll get the option to escort Inog to Silden when you've completed the quests he assigns to you.
Also ausfatcat, did you had the patches installed when you started these quests?

the release patch yes, but just found the incrmental patch so will try that.
Edit:
Well the that didn't work so started from a older saved game, and I had to do the trader escort again, Guess what it was bugged and couldn't finish it....
I might try to play it again when anther patch comes out.
Edit: Ok I have gone through the game again and still the same things occurs which makes me think I am missing talking to someone,
Have talked to Rudolph, Nicholas, Silvester and Garran. These were the guys clovis said to talk to.
Ontop of that I have spoken to Thorus, Black_mage, Osch, Urbanus, and the fighters in the arena..

i suggest admins make a sticky thread called : "always save on more slots ,and as much as you can " because i dont understand why people cant save in more slots ,knowing that the game is bugged and full of errors.

I did,
Once I encounted this bug I reloaded from before speaking to inog - same problem, then restarted the game from scratch = same problem.

i opened the console entered the code/cheat "goto Silvester" and i was teleported up to the barracks of the castle of trelis but there were no silvester!!!:mad:

i uninstalled the game and installed it again with only the first patch v1.0.4 and at last found silvester... if it will continue like this i will smash my PC because of my nerves and it will be Jowood's fault not mine!!! what do you suggest to do guys until the next patch will be released, to keep playing with the 1.0.4v or to install the 1.0.6 again?? did anyone of you had more problems with the 1.0.6 version???

Just be careful: save often and in different slots, don't kill NPCs unless you're told to do so in a quest, follow the quests point by point, if you venture too far and complete others ahead, it's possible to break the quest line, I guess.
If you can have patience, wait for future patch.

I solved it. When you get to Trelis, talk to all 4 Orcs, but when you talk to them and they stop, talk to them again ... especially "Randolph(sp)" inside the main bldg. You need to use up all the conversation with him. Then, go back to Geldern, and sleep until midnight !!!!!!!!!! Get up and go to Inog, and wait until he goes to the Throne Chair and sits down. Then, and only then, he will recognize the completed quest for info about the Black Mage, and order you to kill the Black Mage. Sleep until morning, so that when you return to Trelis, the Black Mage will be there in a room by the front gate. Find a bed close by and sleep until Midnight. Get up and quickly go just outside the room where the Black Mage is working. He will leave for his cave. Follow him out the gate, and when a safe distance away, attack him. That finishes the quest. Report to Inog, and escort him to Anog. NOTE: This is an original G3 engine bug. Many times a dialog depends on a trigger point that is not obvious at all. Where you stand, and WHEN you stand for dialog is critical sometimes. Be aware of that in this game.

those are the 4 orcs.

Why Inog doesn't recognize the completed quest then?
Edit: I just killed the black mage. During the day Inog was reading, I talked to him. Now quest is done.

I finally made it to work. I had to talk with Inog twice. The first time he said why didn't you get the information, but the next time there were the dialog boxes, so I told him I got the info, and already killed the mage, so I escorted him to Anog. Now I'm doing the quests at Thorus. I don't know how it worked...

Apparently, you didn't talked enough with him the first time. And I saw it happen to others.
Always leftclick on an NPC several times, to make sure you didn't missed some dialog.
