Monsters that regenerate health

Sometimes I amb trying to kill a monster with the bow but, if I lose sight of it for a while or I have to reload because the monster killed me, it has 'regenerated' all its wealth (it happenend with the shy deers, shadowbeasts, and dragons). Does anybody know the reason?

That happens if you reload the game, or go to far away from them.

Oh, my, my, that's quite unfair, isn't it? (specially when loading a saved game) I am not precisely eager to find one of those monsters with thousands of hp just to have to kill it without saving... Well, fortunately I'm an old warrior in this kind of war and know one trick or two...:D (and I'm not talking about cheating, something that I always avoid because I like to play the game how it was meant to be)
